How often should I service my bike?

This is a question we get asked all the time, and it’s a difficult one to answer, as the amount of use a bike gets, and the conditions it is ridden and kept in, can vary enormously from one bike to the next.

As a general rule we recommend two services a year: once before winter, so it is prepped and freshly lubricated to provide protection from the ravages of winter weather, and again after winter, to remove all the grit and grime and get everything running smoothly again, ready for those long summer rides.

For bikes that do lots of miles all year round, and for riders wanting to get the best performance out of their bikes (when racing, for instance) then additional servicing may be needed on top of this, particularly in terms of drivetrain maintenance.
