We (Bruno and Jez) met in a bike shop in the old Circus St Market in Brighton where we were both spinning wrenches. We immediately bonded over our passion for bikes and started hanging out and riding together. Both of us have spent years working in various bike shops in and around the city, and we soon discovered we share a history of working in record shops (remember them, kids?) and knocking around Brighton’s nightlife.
As we became friends the idea came about to follow our dreams and open our own shop. Coffee was brewed, plans were hatched and Rhythm & Bikes was born. We decided from the outset that we would concentrate on repairing and servicing bikes.
We believe that riding a bike is the single most rewarding thing a person can do. Particularly if you can do it with mates. And for us, if we can’t be riding a bike, the next best thing is to be working on one. The simple joy of a little tweak here, a problem fixed there, the deep satisfaction of a bike taken apart and put back together, the look on a customer’s face when they come to pick up their bike – we can’t think of anything we would rather do for a living.
